The iCount Campaign

Success!
Despite not being able to follow-through on our TalkBack video series, promoting the economic impact of diverse, marginalized artists in Calgary's arts & culture sector, our campaign to equalize arts sector funding was nevertheless successful!

Calgary Arts Development has created an equalized funding stream that is exclusive to the previously excluded!

Our arts equity literacy training is proving pretty potent... stay posted for news on more positive impact. We're working a changing a few more things now!

SECTOR IMPACT
Some of the arts equity activity Stage Left's team of advocates are working on:

PROMOTING INTER-SECTIONALISM IN ART

Barak ade Soleil is advancing anti-racism in disability arts, through an intensive in Berlin for disabled artists of colour.

COLLABORATING ON AN
UNLEARNING SERIES

Jenna Reid is working on a potential collaboration with Toronto Biennial of Art, on some performative unlearning workshops around Disability Arts and Mad Pride.

RESPECTFUL WORKPLACES
Sara Meurling is working with Respectful Workplaces on the roll out of the new Code of Conduct for the sector. While we congratulate CHRC for this forward progress, Stage Left's DDMAAC team protests the Code's lack of equitable consideration for artists with impairments.

DECOLONIZING THEATRE
OF THE OPPRESSED

Michele Decottignies is collaborating with Drs. Lynden (Lindsay) Crowshoe and Cindy Jardine on the use of Theatre of the Oppressed as a tool of communjity-driven Indigenous Mental Wellness.
